PRN272: DUAL-PURPOSE TRAFFIC CONE

JEZAN MD DIAH UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM)

This study focuses on designing and evaluating a new type of traffic cone that can also be used as a portable stool. Traditional traffic cones are useful for marking danger zones and controlling traffic, but they often have problems such as being large, hard to carry, and difficult to see at night or in bad weather. These problems can slow down emergency response and cause more accidents. To solve this, a foldable and multi-functional traffic cone was created that is easier to use, more visible, and has an extra use as a seat. The cone was made using PVC material, which is strong, light, and weather resistant. It includes reflective strips to improve visibility in low light and has a compact design that is easy to store and transport. The height of 45 cm was chosen for both safety and comfort when used as a stool. The design was tested by creating a prototype and collecting feedback from 80 respondents using a questionnaire. The results showed that most people agreed with the improvements, especially the colour, visibility, practicality, and extra function. The study also received legal protection by registering the innovation under copyright. This shows that the design is unique and has value in the real world. Feedback from users included suggestions to improve the cone further by adding LED lights, using brighter colours, and making it even more stable. These suggestions will be helpful for future improvements. In conclusion, the new dual-purpose traffic cone is a simple but effective innovation that can improve road safety and convenience during emergencies. It is a practical solution that combines safety, portability, and extra function in one design. This product has the potential to replace traditional cones and be used widely by road users, emergency teams, and even outdoor enthusiasts.
