The Hydrogenie Filtrix is a groundbreaking initiative addressing critical issues of electricity shortage and inadequate clean water supply in Sabah and Kelantan, Malaysia. Recent reports indicated the severity of these challenges, with Sabah experiencing electricity rationing and Kelantan grappling with clean water shortage, even in urban area like Kota Bharu. This Hydrogenie Filtrix project proposes a comprehensive solution that integrates renewable energy technologies to supply the electricity to the rural areas while ensuring a sustainable and clean water supply. The process involves rotating a water wheel to generate kinetic energy, which is then converted into electrical energy by an electrical box that consists of converter, transformer, and capacitor. Furthermore, clean water is attained through a filtration system incorporating aluminium sulphate for neutralization, activated carbon, and UV sterilization. The Hydrogenie Filtrix also aims to foster community engagement in water management, combat waterborne diseases, achieve universal access to modern energy, and reduce marine pollution which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 14 – Life Below Water.
