ABSTRACT

Manual sorting is inconvenient, and this leads to messy unsorted trash around the school. Students also often mix different types of waste because they cannot easily tell which item are non-metal and metal. The purpose of this project is to help students to sort waste correctly without needing to check each item manually and to promote cleaner and more organize waste disposal habit in the school. We designed two separate bins, one for metal and one for non-metal waste. Using a simple detection system, the ATS identifies the type of material placed near it. When the sensor detects metal or non-metal objects, the correct lids open automatically. To encourage students to throw trash around the school, we also installed an automated hand sanitizer for hygiene purposes and also a reward system for every trash recycled. In conclusion, we hope that through this project, we aim to promote cleaner habits and encourage recycling by making waste separation easier and more efficient for students.
