Science education in many Malaysian schools faces limitations due to insufficient laboratory facilities, particularly non-functioning fume chambers and safety equipment. These constraints restrict teachers and students from performing hands-on experiments safely, making science learning less interactive and engaging. To address this issue, the Portable Multi-tasking Experiment Box (PMEB) was developed — a safe, mobile, and practical mini-laboratory designed to enable experiments anywhere and anytime. The PMEB targets Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers who require flexible and safe tools for demonstrations, as well as students aged seven and above who benefit from guided, hands-on science learning experiences. Equipped with a gas sensor (MQ2), automatic buzzer, mini exhaust fan, and carbon filter, PMEB enhances safety while maintaining practicality and portability. Through real-world classroom testing, 90% of teachers and students reported increased confidence, safety awareness, and interest in conducting experiments. The project also attracted attention from other schools seeking to adopt the innovation. By integrating safety, innovation, and accessibility, PMEB supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), empowering educators and learners to explore science beyond the confines of a traditional lab.
