ABSTRACT

The threat of water pollution to the environment has aroused widespread concern. Thus, this innovation highlights the development of efficient adsorbents to treat contaminants such as dyes, food colouring and heavy metals. VersaBent was made from natural resources of polysaccharide and biomass which proposed as green chemistry strategy for the environment.  VersaBent was prepared by immobilizing yeast into the matrix of sodium alginate beads. Then, the VersaBent can be used to remove the target contaminants via adsorption process. This innovation product also has a high commercialization potential due to low-cost of raw material and production.
