YIN920: EcoSaklob: From Potato (Solanum Tuberosum) To Sustainable Cover

Lucas Tagumpay Cantre Taguig Integrated School

This experiment aims to reduce plastic waste by developing biodegradable plastic covers made from potato starch and gelatin, offering students a sustainable alternative. Potato starch and gelatin were chosen because they are safe, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly. The materials were combined and processed using low-cost methods to create a durable biodegradable cover. The product was then tested for strength, flexibility, and decomposition rate to evaluate its performance. Results showed that the biodegradable covers were durable while still capable of breaking down safely in the natural environment. These findings highlight a promising eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastic, supporting environmental sustainability efforts.
