Intermediate-temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (IT-SOFCs) hold promise for faster start-up and lower costs, but their success hinges on efficient cathode materials. This review investigates SSC as a potential IT-SOFC champion due to its inherent activity and thermal compatibility. We delve into strategies like doping, microstructure tweaking, and composite creation to enhance SSC performance. We then compare the performance and activity of various improved SSC cathodes reported in recent research. The review concludes by exploring ongoing challenges and exciting future directions for SSC research in the realm of IT-SOFCs.
