REBIT (Reinforced Bitumen) is an innovative sustainable road construction material developed by incorporating recycled plastic waste and coconut shell powder into conventional bitumen. The project addresses environmental challenges associated with plastic pollution and the depletion of natural road aggregates while enhancing pavement performance. The objective is to improve the mechanical strength, durability, and thermal resistance of asphalt mixtures through eco-friendly modification. Laboratory blending and performance tests indicate increased stiffness, rutting resistance, and reduced cracking potential compared to standard bitumen. REBIT promotes circular economy practices, reduces landfill burden, and supports sustainable infrastructure development aligned with global environmental and climate resilience goals.
