This study was conducted to develop the iCodeAR basic programming learning module, based on augmented reality (AR) and robotics technology, for secondary school students, in line with digital education needs and the aspirations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). The background of this study stems from the need to enhance the quality of learning in programming topics within the Design and Technology (RBT) subject, which has traditionally been taught using conventional methods and often fails to capture students’ interest. The problem statement refers to the lack of interactive and innovative teaching aids that can help students understand abstract programming concepts. The aim of this study is to develop an iCodeAR module. The development of iCodeAR systematically uses the ADDIE model. A mixed-methods approach was applied. The combining of qualitative techniques through interviews with teachers and quantitative methods by using questionnaires involving 66 secondary school students. The findings indicate that the use of iCodeAR successfully enhanced students' understanding of programming concepts, encouraged active engagement, and helped teachers deliver lessons more efficiently and enjoyably. 100% of responses from experts giving feedback that the iCodeAR module is user-friendly, visually engaging, and interactive. Overall, this study contributes to the development of technology-based teaching aids in the STEM field and has the potential to serve as a reference for teachers, policymakers, and researchers in enhancing the quality of 21st-century education.
