This study introduces Edible Water Balloons as a novel and environmentally sustainable alternative to single-use plastic water containers and conventional water balloons. Utilizing spherification, a technique derived from molecular gastronomy, these biodegradable and edible spheres encapsulate water in a gelatinous membrane, thereby eliminating the need for plastic packaging. This innovation addresses pressing global environmental concerns associated with plastic pollution, particularly in recreational and educational contexts. The research outlines the development process, material composition, cost-efficiency, and potential impact of Edible Water Balloons within the Malaysian framework. Furthermore, the initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), promoting responsible consumer behavior and sustainable practices.
