JIN267: The Digital Dream-Weavers : From Manuscript To Media

AHMAD ZARUL ARSYAD BIN MOHAMAD SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN SUNGAI NANGKA

The Digital Dream-Weavers initiative addresses the difficulty 8-year-old ESL learners face when moving from basic vocabulary to cohesive narrative writing. To overcome the intimidation of a "blank page," this innovation provides a structured Narrative Scaffolding System where students use guided prompts—including pre-defined characters, settings, and plot arcs—to draft original stories in English. The primary objective is to enhance English proficiency and digital literacy by transforming student-written manuscripts into Visual Storybooks. The methodology follows a "Draft-to-Digital" workflow: teachers provide linguistic guidance during the writing phase, which is then paired with student-led illustrations to create a digital publication. A key feature of this project is its integration with the District Digital Library, allowing student works to become permanent, accessible resources for their peers. The potential impact is a significant boost in student confidence and writing stamina, alongside the creation of a culturally relevant, peer-generated digital archive. By bridging the gap between creative writing and digital media, this initiative offers a scalable model for inclusive, technology-enhanced language learning.
