Patriotism is a sense of pride, admiration and love a person has for their country. The patriotism spirit among military personnel in the Malaysian Armed Forces has declined over time with alarming rates of increasing yearly disciplinary cases which curtail the image of this defence organization. There is a need to understand patriotism values among serving personnel. As such the objectives of this research are to examine the key dimensions of military minds as a determining factor and the relationship linking human dimensions and patriotism among military personnel. Heroism, behaviour, military decency, responsibilities, military skills and motivation variables were measured towards patriotism in this study. This quantitative research was administered to 249 military respondents from various units and military training institutions from the Malaysian Armed Forces. The R2 value for the relationships between heroism, clear behaviour, military decency, responsibility for equipment, military skill, and motivation with patriotism is 0.762, indicating that the variances in patriotism are 76.2%. The findings of this study supported all hypotheses, with the human dimension and military minds having a significant relationship with patriotism. This research provides a platform for the Malaysian Armed Forces to relook at their current doctrines in human dimension factors to ensure patriotism continues to be a major bonding factor among serving personnel. This research findings on patriotism among military personnel provide the body of knowledge and indicators to complement and enhance the Malaysian Armed Forces' top management to implement the changes needed to glorify the patriotism spirit and values for their soldiers in the future.
