Air pollution in Malaysia has become a significant environmental concern, driven by a combination of industrial activities. A recent study by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) and Greenpeace Malaysia found that an estimated 32,000 avoidable deaths occur in Malaysia every year because of air pollution. In addition, recent literature shows that the impact of long-term exposure to poor air quality on human health is worse than previously estimated. Therefore, we would like to propose our innovative product design called Air Renewer, a factory smoke cleaning design with advanced filtration technology and smart monitoring. Air Renewer is built with four layers consisting of the smoke stake, HEPA filters, activated carbon filters and ultraviolet light that could potentially help to reduce harmful smoke emissions from factories and enhance sustainable industrial operations. The Air Renewer product design can help to reduce air pollution and is critical to achieving SDG 3, SDG 7 and SDG 13 which are associated with ensuring healthy lives and well-being, promoting sustainable and modern energy, and combating climate change and its impacts.
