Clarinda Sii Kai Xin SMK MERBAU MIRI
This project addresses the environmental issue caused by the widespread use of single-use black plastic nursery bags in Miri, Sarawak. These plastics are difficult to recycle and contribute to pollution, flooding, and microplastic contamination. Our innovation, EcoPot, is a biodegradable planting pot made from recycled paper, natural starch, and salak fruit peels. It is low-cost, easy to produce, and requires no machinery, making it accessible for community use. EcoPot promotes waste reduction and sustainable practices in line with Sustainable Development Goal 12. Through planned experiments, we aim to demonstrate its durability, plant growth support, and effectiveness as an eco-friendly alternative.
