EnerStep is an innovative system that combines green technology with location tracking to enhance personal safety. By using piezoelectric components embedded in shoe insoles, EnerStep converts footsteps into electrical energy to power a hidden GPS tracker.
This enables continuous tracking of children and elderly individuals without frequent charging, helping to reduce missing person cases. In addition, the generated energy can also be used to power small electronic devices such as phones, portable fans, and flashlights.
At the same time, EnerStep promotes sustainability by transforming everyday movement into renewable energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels. With a low prototype cost of approximately RM150, EnerStep shows strong potential for commercialization through collaboration with footwear and GPS technology companies, with future improvements including waterproof design and USB Type-C integration.
