ABSTRACT

ECO STEP TILES

ECO STEP TILES is an innovative green energy project developed to convert mechanical energy from human footsteps into electrical energy using piezoelectric technology. This project addresses the growing issue of energy wastage and the increasing demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources in daily life.

The system utilizes piezoelectric discs that generate electrical energy when pressure is applied. Two functional prototypes were developed. The first prototype demonstrates immediate energy generation by lighting an LED when the tile is pressed, proving real-time energy conversion. The second prototype focuses on energy storage, where the generated alternating current (AC) is directed into a capacitor and measured using a multimeter, showing the capability to store and monitor electrical output.

This project supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action, by promoting eco-friendly energy solutions that can be integrated into high-traffic areas such as schools, shopping malls, and public walkways.

In conclusion, ECO STEP TILES demonstrates that simple, low-cost technology can transform everyday activities into valuable energy sources. With further development and scaling, this innovation has the potential to contribute to smart city infrastructure and reduce dependence on non-renewable energy.
