This study investigates the feasibility and potential benefits of replacing polystyrene, a widely used but environmentally problematic material, with sustainable alternatives. Through a comprehensive review of the literature and analysis of existing research, this paper examines various substitutes for polystyrene in packaging, insulation, and other applications. Factors such as cost-effectiveness, durability, and environmental impact are considered in evaluating the viability of these alternatives. The findings suggest that transitioning away from polystyrene towards eco-friendly materials such as seashells, eggshells, starch, and natural fibers offers promising opportunities to mitigate environmental concerns while promoting sustainability in various industries. This research contributes to ongoing efforts aimed at reducing the ecological footprint associated with traditional plastic materials and advancing toward a more sustainable future.
