Thriftlight Stand is the name given to our innovative product, which was developed using the 3R concept – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The objective of this innovation is to reduce electronic waste in Malaysia. In line with the rising quality of life among Malaysians, the use of electrical products has also increased.  A large portion of damaged electrical products are disposed of at landfill sites, many of which are located near rivers.  This leads to negative impacts as chemicals and heavy metals from electronic waste seep into the soil and groundwater systems.  This poses a serious threat to our environment.  Hence, the idea of creating the “Thriftlight Stand” emerged, utilizing parts of a damaged fan – specifically the stand and parts of the body – to build this innovative product. Other recycled materials used include a metal frame from a downlight, mineral water bottle caps, and a switch.  For this innovation project, only the LED bulb is reused.This makes the product highly cost-effective and easy to produce.Furthermore, the “Thriftlight Stand” possesses aesthetic value, is user-friendly, environmentally friendly, ergonomic, and commercially viable – qualities that can attract the interest of consumers.
