The rising use of plastics and cans contributes significantly to environmental pollution, especially in developing cities. This study introduces an AI-based system using a conveyor belt and robotic arm integrated with the YOLO model to identify and sort plastics and cans. The system supports SDGs 9 and 11, achieves 82–97% detection accuracy, and is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows. With a data transmission speed of 3–10 Mbps, it ensures efficient, scalable operation. Rated at TRL 5, future improvements include wet waste separation, reduced power use, silent mechanics, and enhanced app support for better data storage and waste management insights.
