Vandalism in school toilets is a recurring issue that leads to damaged infrastructure, increased
repair costs, and discomfort for users. To address this, our team developed Vendalisno — a
smart monitoring and deterrent system using Micro:bit and Internet of Things (IoT)
technology. The system detects high-impact vibrations on doors through sensors and responds
by activating a locking mechanism, LED alert, and sending instant notifications to school
authorities via Telegram. Vendalisno consists of two Micro:bits, a Reka:bit board, a servo
motor, LED light, WiFi Grove, and a camera. When a potential vandalism attempt is detected,
the system automatically locks the door, alerts the administration, and records evidence. This
project promotes a safer and more respectful school environment while reducing maintenance
costs. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, Sustainable Cities, and
communities. Vendalisno is scalable and has potential to be applied not only in schools but
also in public facilities such as malls and petrol stations.
