Air pollution and excessive noise are among the most overlooked threats in
today’s urban environments, often affecting communities without visible
warning. This project introduces METROPULSE, a mobile robot designed to
detect and respond to these hidden risks to promote safer and healthier
living spaces. By using a light sensor to represent poor air quality and a sound
sensor to identify harmful noise levels, METROPULSE can move, light up, and
sound an alarm to alert people nearby in real time. The system was
developed and tested using simple block-based programming to ensure it
reacts effectively and remains user-friendly. Beyond protecting the
community, METROPULSE also serves as an educational tool to raise public
awareness about invisible environmental dangers. Supporting Sustainable
Development Goal 11, this innovation empowers citizens to take small,
practical steps toward cleaner air, quieter surroundings, and more sustainable
urban living.
