Artificial flowers made of polyester fabric contain harmful chemicals which effects the balance of the ecosystem, causes health problem and pollutes the environment. Hence, innovation aim is to produce decorative flowers from corn husk without polluting the environment. Corn husk was used in order to utilize food waste. Corn husk was added with natural colouring and dried for a day. Dried corn husk straighten using hair straightener. Then, it was cut into petal shape of flowers. Corn husk flowers are kind to planet as it is biodegradable. This reduces plastic pollution and food waste. Our Corn Husk Flower has high commercial value as large amount of food waste been disposed daily. Hence, it can be utilized in useful way that is by converting into handmade flowers. There were no cost on the raw materials since we used food waste. The production expenses including of man power was calculated and the cost is about RM30 cents/flower. If produced in a larger scale, the cost would be even lower. We can sell the flower for RM1.50 per stick. Hence, our profit will be RM1.20.
