Traditional farming methods, which were once the mainstay of our food production, now face critical challenges. These methods are often demanding in terms of resources and can harm the environment. They struggle to keep up with the world's growing hunger for food, which, in turn, contributes to problems like climate change, land deterioration, and greenhouse gas emissions. These shortcomings have further exacerbated food insecurity worldwide, leaving millions of people vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition (FAO, 2021). To address this problem, innovative solutions are needed to improve food production and distribution. SustainaCrop is an innovative Lego Mindstorms-based robot designed to handle all the necessary tasks involved in crop management, including planting, watering, fertilizing, and plucking. With its modular design, durable materials, and user-friendly interfaces, it has the potential to revolutionize agriculture and contribute to solving the issue of food insecurity. By improving crop yields, reducing food waste, and enhancing agricultural practices, SustainaCrop could help increase access to nutritious food and improve the livelihoods of millions of people worldwide.
