This article presents Peelé (Peel + beauté), an eco-friendly hand cream formulated using natural extracts from commonly discarded fruit peels—specifically orange, lemon, and apple. The increasing volume of household organic waste, particularly from fruits, contributes to environmental degradation when not properly managed. At the same time, the skincare industry is saturated with products containing synthetic ingredients, some of which have been linked to skin irritation and environmental harm. In response to these dual concerns, this study explores the potential of upcycling fruit peel waste into a functional, sustainable skincare product. The formulation of Peelé (Peel + beauté) integrates fruit peel extracts rich in antioxidants and vitamins with other natural ingredients such as sunflower oil, beeswax, and essential oils. The process is simple and replicable, demonstrating that sustainable product innovation can be achieved with minimal tools and accessible materials. The project serves as a practical example of circular economy principles by transforming waste into value-added products. It also supports global sustainability efforts, particularly those outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). User feedback has shown promising results in terms of moisturising effectiveness and product acceptability. The product not only addresses a pressing environmental issue—food waste—but also meets consumer demands for safer, more natural skincare alternatives. Through Peelé (Peel + beauté), the study advocates for increased awareness about waste management, responsible consumption, and the feasibility of grassroots eco-innovation. This research highlights how small, thoughtful interventions can generate meaningful social, environmental, and personal health benefits, proving that sustainability and skincare can go hand in hand.
