JI899: From Kitchen Waste To Clean Hands: Soap Making With Used Oil

SASVENA A/P GUNASILAN SJKT RAWANG

This project demonstrates how soap can be made in an eco-friendly way by recycling used cooking oil and incorporating chamomile for its skin-soothing properties. Typically, used cooking oil is discarded, which can harm the environment by clogging drains and polluting water. Instead of letting it go to waste, we repurposed the oil to create handmade soap through a process known as saponification. Chamomile, a natural plant known for its benefits to the skin, was added to make the soap gentler and more calming. The final product was tested for safety, lather quality, and cleaning effectiveness. Our results showed that waste oil can be transformed into a high-quality, safe-to-use soap. This project highlights how recycling and using natural ingredients can protect the environment while creating something practical and beneficial.
