The rising demand for sustainable and eco-friendly materials is driving new ideas for turning agricultural waste into useful industrial products. This project focuses on creating an environmentally friendly face mask made from banana stem fibers, enhanced with oregano. Banana stems, often thrown away despite being rich in cellulose, offer a biodegradable and compostable alternative to conventional paper-based materials. Adding oregano boosts the mask’s antimicrobial properties while also supporting its ability to break down naturally. This innovative solution helps reduce pollution and agricultural waste, while also benefiting local economies by opening up new income opportunities in banana-growing areas. Using a low-chemical, sustainable production process, the project provides a green alternative to disposable masks; one that supports both environmental protection and public health.
