Introducing an alternative approach, this project addresses oil spill cleanup and scattered metal debris on the ocean seabed using a unique sponge concept. Crafted with oleophobic, hydrophobic, and magnetic properties, the sponge comprises graphite, iron oxide, carbon, magnetic iron powder, silicone spray, and a dishwasher sponge. Through various test, the sponge proves its efficacy with a notable 62.37% average oil absorption rate and successful capture of scattered magnetic metal debris. Maintaining its shape under load and reusable for up to 31 cycles, this sponge-based initiative excels in real-world challenges, providing a practical and promising alternative for marine environmental preservation with reduced energy consumption.
