The rapid integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI), particularly ChatGPT, in secondary and technical education has enhanced learning innovation while raising concerns about academic integrity. Issues such as plagiarism, authorship misrepresentation, and undisclosed AI use highlight the lack of structured mechanisms to measure student honesty. To address this, the VERITAS Index was developed as a validated Honesty Academic Integrity Index grounded in the ICAI framework. It operationalises honesty through systematic development, expert validation, and pilot testing. VERITAS transforms honesty into a preventive, value-driven profiling mechanism, enabling early detection of integrity risks. It supports ethical AI use, promotes responsible digital practices, and offers a scalable, institution-ready assessment solution.
