Most commercial ink markers today are made using synthetic chemicals such as alcohol-based solvents and artificial dyes. These substances can be harmful to the skin, especially for children, and contribute to environmental pollution when discarded. Furthermore, the production of conventional markers involves high costs and non-renewable materials. Terra-Tint innovation introduces a safer, eco-friendly alternative by using natural ingredients specifically natural-based pigments, water, lotion, and aloe vera gel. Natural pigments such as dragon fruit, beetroot, and blueberries are rich in natural colour compounds that can be extracted and concentrated to form vibrant, natural-based inks. These pigments are then mixed with lotion and aloe vera, which acts not only as a skin-soothing agent but also helps maintain moisture and stability in the ink mixture. This project empowers students to think critically and creatively by producing a marker ink using non-toxic, biodegradable, and affordable ingredients.
Terra-Tint promotes sustainability, reduces chemical dependency, and encourages responsible use of natural resources. The innovation also provides a meaningful solution for teachers, society, and students who seek safer and more natural educational tools.
