ECO-FROST DOME: TVET-BASED CLIMATE ADAPTIVE SMART HOUSING SYSTEM

ECO-FROST DOME is an innovative climate-adaptive housing system developed through a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) approach to address global climate challenges. Increasing temperature extremes in both Polar and Tropical regions have led to higher energy consumption in conventional buildings, particularly for heating and cooling systems. This project aims to design a sustainable and energy-efficient housing solution that minimizes environmental impact while enhancing practical technical skills among students.

The innovation features a geodesic dome structure integrated with passive cooling ventilation, layered thermal insulation, and renewable energy systems such as solar and wind. The dome design optimizes airflow and reduces heat gain in tropical climates while retaining warmth in colder environments. The project was developed through hands-on student involvement, including design, construction, and performance testing, which aligns with TVET learning principles.

Preliminary findings indicate improved temperature regulation and airflow efficiency compared to conventional housing structures. ECO-FROST DOME contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, including affordable clean energy, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, and climate action. This innovation demonstrates strong potential for application in eco-housing, disaster relief shelters, and modular green construction, making it a scalable solution for future sustainable living.
