Air travel can be challenging for visually impaired passengers, particularly during baggage claim where identifying personal luggage independently is difficult. Existing solutions rely heavily on assistance from airport staff or companions, reducing independence and confidence among visually impaired travellers. This project introduces a LoRa-Based Luggage Detection Aid designed to help visually impaired air travellers locate their luggage independently using long-range wireless communication technology.
The objective of this innovation is to develop a portable, low-cost and reliable system that enables users to detect and identify their luggage through wireless signal transmission. The methodology involves integrating a LoRa transmitter attached to the luggage and a handheld LoRa receiver device carried by the user. When activated, the system provides audio alerts once the luggage is within a detectable range.
The product emphasises long-range communication, low power consumption and user-friendly operation. This innovation has strong commercial potential in the aviation industry, especially in enhancing accessibility services at airports. In conclusion, the system promotes independence, safety and inclusivity for visually impaired air travellers while supporting smart airport initiatives.
