Pure Textura is a project we created to reduce textile waste and replace materials that break easily, like plastic and low-quality wood. We made a new material by combining discarded textile with starch, creating something strong, durable, and environmentally friendly. This material can be used to make daily items, especially in schools and dormitories. The idea came after we noticed how much textile get wasted and thrown away in our school hostel. Old uniforms, worn-out bed sheets, and torn clothes are the main sources of textile waste. That inspired us to take action and find a new use of wasted textile. Worldwide, over 92 million tonnes of textile waste are produced every year. That’s why we believe it’s important to take even small steps to make a change. Through Pure Textura, we’re not just recycling but we’re creating new possibilities. So far, we’ve successfully used our material to create useful items such as a chair and a whiteboard duster holder. For making one single unit of chair, we manage to reduce 50 pieces of textile waste. This shows that the material we developed is not just a concept, it actually works in real life. We hope Pure Textura will inspire more students and schools to reuse waste in creative ways because something once considered useless can become something meaningful, practical, and long-lasting.
