YIN1393: THE USE OF COCONUT FIBRE AS SEEDLING POTS

FATINI ARYANTI BINTI AB GHANI SMK KEMUMIN

Nowadays, people are worried about plastic pollution and how it affects the environment. Many plants are grown in plastic pots which eventually end up as waste. Our project aims to create seedling pots using coconut fibre mixed with tapioca starch and citric acid, so they are biodegradable and safe for the environment. We experimented with making the pots and tested them to see how strong they are, how quickly they break down, and how well they help seeds grow. The results show that plants grow better in coconut fibre pots compared to plastic pots. We also compared our pots with commercial seedling pots and found that our pots are cheaper, eco-friendly, and can help local communities earn extra income. This project proves that waste materials like coconut husks can be turned into useful products while protecting the environment.
