YIN493: PAPERCANE

WAN ANNUR SYAFIQAH BINTI WAN SABARUDIN SM SAINS DUNGUN

This project introduces “Papercane”, an innovative eco-friendly paper bag produced from sugarcane bagasse, a commonly discarded agricultural waste. The development of Papercane aims to the increasing environmental issues caused by plastic pollution and excessive paper production from tree resources.

The product is created by processing sugarcane bagasse into paper pulp and enhancing its strength using natural binders . Additionally, materials like eggshell powder are incorporated to enrich the product with nutrients and allowing it to function as a biodegradable material that can decompose. Papercane is designed to be durable, reusable, and environmentally sustainable. The innovation not only reduces waste but also promotes a
circular economy by transforming organic waste into a value-added product.

In conclusion, Papercane demonstrates the potential of integrating waste management, sustainable materials, and innovative design to create an environmentally responsible packaging solution suitable for global use.
