Abstract Magnetic Resonance Imaging is an essential non-invasive diagnostic technique that requires accurate head positioning and minimal patient movement to produce high quality images. However involuntary motion asymmetrical head alignment and patient anxiety often lead to motion artefacts, reduced image clarity, longer scanning time and repeated examinations. To overcome these challenges, MRI Smart Headmap is introduced as a smart head positioning and motion detection system designed for individuals undergoing MRI scanning. This innovation is developed as a concept design and prototype that integrates smart sensor technology within a specially designed head support to maintain symmetrical head positioning and continuously detect even slight head movement during the scanning process. By ensuring head stability the system helps reduce motion related artefacts and improves overall imaging accuracy. In addition the system incorporates calming natural sound elements delivered through MRI compatible speakers to help reduce patient anxiety and promote relaxation while inside the MRI scanner. A calmer patient is less likely to move which further supports image quality and patient comfort. Furthermore, MRI SmartHeadmap includes a patient signalling system that allows patients to alert medical staff outside the scanning room if they feel uncomfortable or unable to continue the procedure. This feature enhances patient safety communication and confidence during MRI examinations. Overall,MRI SmartHeadmap provides a patient centred and practical solution that improves diagnostic reliability, reduces the need for repeat scans and enhances the overall MRI scanning experience.
