Many people in poor areas suffer from water pollution because they lack the necessary technology to clean their water sources.
This project introduces a DIY water filter designed for primary school students that uses simple, accessible materials. By layering cotton, sand, activated charcoal, and stones inside an inverted plastic bottle, we created a filter that removes debris and improves water taste. While the filter makes water visually clearer, it cannot remove all bacteria or viruses. Therefore, the water must be boiled before drinking to ensure it is 100% safe. This low-cost invention has great potential to provide cleaner water and improve health globally.
