JIN262: Global Aviators: An Experiential Journey Into World Geography And Meteorology

AHMAD ZARUL ARSYAD BIN MOHAMAD SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN SUNGAI NANGKA

The Global Aviators project addresses the lack of engagement in traditional geography lessons, where children often struggle to visualize the connection between global locations and their diverse climates. This innovation transforms the classroom into a simulated international flight, positioning students as cabin crew and meteorologists to foster active learning. The primary objective is to enhance cultural literacy and meteorological understanding through immersive role-play. The methodology utilizes a Simulated Flight Framework, where "cabin crew" students present facts about a destination country while "weather officers" report on its specific climate conditions and seasonal patterns. Key features include the World Weather Passport, a tactile tracking tool for documenting global data, and Themed Discovery Suitcases filled with cultural and climatic artifacts from different continents. The potential impact is a significant increase in students' global awareness and an improved ability to synthesize scientific data with geographic context. By merging creative drama with academic content, the initiative provides a scalable, high-energy model for primary social studies that prepares children to be informed global citizens.
