RYZA is an eco-friendly innovation that transforms rice washing water, a commonly discarded household by-product, into a sustainable bar soap. Large amounts of rice washing water are wasted daily in homes, school canteens, and hostels, contributing to water wastage and environmental pollution. At the same time, liquid handwash in plastic bottles is widely used, increasing plastic waste and cost. RYZA addresses both problems through a waste-to-value approach. Based on research showing that rice washing water contains nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, this resource is converted into a safe, grape-shaped bar soap using natural ingredients. Testing results showed that RYZA has a mild pH, good biodegradability and no skin irritation, making it suitable for children and the elderly. RYZA supports SDG 6 by reducing water wastage, SDG 12 by promoting upcycling and responsible consumption, SDG 13 by minimizing plastic waste and carbon footprint and SDG 4 by offering hands-on environmental learning and innovation skills.
