The Eco Aroma Beat Box is an innovative, low-cost musical instrument developed using recycled materials and natural resources to promote sustainability, creativity, and student well-being. This project integrates a handmade percussion beat box with lemongrass, creating a unique multi-sensory learning tool that combines sound and aromatherapy. The main objective is to provide students with an affordable platform to explore rhythm and music while encouraging environmental responsibility.
The beat box is constructed using recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, and PVC pipes, reducing waste and supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The inclusion of lemongrass enhances the innovation by providing natural fragrance, which helps improve focus, reduce stress, and act as a mosquito repellent, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
The methodology involves designing and assembling sound chambers within a recycled box to produce different percussion effects, followed by the integration of dried or fresh lemongrass to create an aroma feature. This innovation offers multiple benefits, including enhanced creativity, improved concentration, environmental awareness, and a more engaging classroom experience.
In conclusion, the Eco Aroma Beat Box demonstrates how simple materials can be transformed into a functional, educational, and eco-friendly innovation. It has strong potential for use in schools, STEM activities, and innovation competitions, as well as for future enhancement through the integration of electronic sound amplification
