Abstrak
BioTech BALM JUNIOR: “Inovasi Muda, Bibir Terjaga” merupakan projek inovasi berasaskan STEM yang dibangunkan oleh murid sekolah rendah SK Saujana, Setiu Terengganu bagi menghasilkan produk penjagaan bibir semula jadi menggunakan ekstrak beetroot dan bunga mawar. Beetroot dipilih sebagai sumber pewarna semula jadi yang kaya dengan antioksidan, manakala bunga mawar menyumbang kepada kelembapan, aroma semula jadi dan sifat menenangkan kulit bibir. Gabungan kedua-dua bahan ini menghasilkan lip balm berwarna merah jambu, merah dan merah pekat semula jadi yang selamat, menarik dan mesra kanak-kanak.
Projek ini mengintegrasikan elemen Sains melalui kajian sifat bahan semula jadi, Teknologi dalam proses penyediaan dan pembungkusan produk, Kejuruteraan dalam mereka bentuk bekas dan formulasi yang stabil, serta Matematik dalam pengiraan sukatan bahan dan kos pengeluaran. Selain menitikberatkan aspek keselamatan dan keberkesanan produk, projek ini juga memberi pendedahan awal kepada murid tentang proses inovasi, penyelidikan, ujian kualiti dan penambahbaikan produk.
BioTech BALM JUNIOR bukan sahaja bertujuan menjaga kesihatan bibir secara semula jadi, malah membuka peluang kepada murid untuk memasarkan produk mereka bagi menambah duit poket. Melalui aktiviti jualan dan promosi, murid dapat mengasah bakat keusahawanan, membina keyakinan diri, serta memupuk semangat kreativiti dan kepimpinan. Secara keseluruhannya, projek ini membuktikan bahawa inovasi muda mampu memberi impak positif kepada kesihatan, pembelajaran STEM dan pembangunan jiwa usahawan sejak di bangku sekolah rendah. Juga disediakan soalan QR Bar Code untuk menguji minda kawan-kawan.

BioTech BALM JUNIOR: “Young Innovation, Protected Lips” is a STEM-based innovation project developed by primary school pupils SK Saujana Setiu Terengganu to formulate a natural lip care product using beetroot extract and rose petals. Beetroot was selected as a natural colourant due to its antioxidant-rich properties, while rose petals were incorporated for their moisturizing effect, mild natural fragrance, and soothing benefits for the lips. The combination of these ingredients produces a naturally tinted pink lip balm that is safe, appealing, and suitable for children.
The project integrates all core components of STEM education. Science is applied through the investigation of natural ingredients and their functions in lip care formulation. Technology is utilized in the preparation, processing, and packaging of the product. Engineering is involved in designing an appropriate container and developing a stable balm formulation. Mathematics is applied in measuring ingredients accurately and calculating production costs. In addition, the project emphasizes product safety, effectiveness, quality testing, and continuous improvement throughout the innovation process.
Beyond promoting natural lip care, BioTech BALM JUNIOR also creates an early platform for student entrepreneurship. By engaging in product marketing and promotional activities, pupils gain practical experience in communication, sales, teamwork, and decision-making while building confidence, creativity, and leadership skills. Overall, this project demonstrates that young learners are capable of producing meaningful innovations that contribute positively to health awareness, STEM learning, and entrepreneurial development at the primary school level. QR code questions are also included to challenge our friends’ minds.
