In an effort to promote sustainable maritime transportation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, this project presents the development of "The Eternal Sumud" an eco-friendly boat prototype powered entirely by solar energy. The project aims to demonstrate the practical application of renewable energy in a small-scale marine system using affordable and accessible materials. The boat’s structure is engineered for stability and buoyancy, utilizing a lightweight polystyrene base and a frame constructed from ice cream sticks. The system operates on key physics principles including energy conversion, the Law of Conservation of Energy and Newton’s Second Law describe motion. A mini solar panel mounted on the deck harnesses sunlight via the photoelectric effect converting it into electrical energy that directly powers a DC motor. This motor drives a rear-mounted propeller translating electrical power into mechanical thrust to propel the vessel across the water. Testing results confirmed that the boat maintains a steady and continuous motion under bright sunlight with its speed being directly proportional to light intensity. By showcasing that functional technology can be created from recycled materials, this project serves to encourage green technology awareness and supports the global vision for a sustainable, zero-pollution future.
