NephrIQ is a non invasive biosensor developed for early detection of kidney stress using saliva analysis. The system combines natural pigments from hibiscus and beetroot with soybean derived urease to detect ammonium levels associated with impaired kidney function. Anthocyanins from hibiscus and betalains from beetroot produce visible color changes in response to ammonium concentration, while soybean urease converts urea into ammonium to enhance sensitivity. The color shifts indicate different risk levels and are analyzed in real time using artificial intelligence through smartphone imaging. NephrIQ provides a rapid affordable and accessible screening tool for early kidney dysfunction in communities.
