The rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced new possibilities for enhancing learning experiences and emotional well-being in education. Learning English as a Second Language (ESL) often triggers anxiety and stress among students, which can hinder engagement and academic performance in Malaysian higher education. To address this, the study explores the use of Suno AI, a generative artificial intelligence tool that allows learners to create English songs collaboratively with AI, as a means to promote emotional well-being and language learning. The study aimed to examine students’ perceptions of Suno AI in three domains: enjoyment and motivation, ease and stress reduction, and learning impact and future use. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 118 Malaysian ESL undergraduates, who participated in an AI-assisted songwriting activity followed by a 12-item Likert-scale questionnaire. Descriptive analysis revealed highly positive responses across all domains, showing that students found Suno AI enjoyable, user-friendly, and effective for managing study-related stress. It is also reported improved vocabulary practice, word recall, and willingness to continue using AI tools for English learning. These findings suggest that integrating generative AI and music-based learning can enhance both affective engagement and cognitive outcomes, transforming the ESL classroom into a more relaxed, creative, and student-centred environment.
