YIN599: Comparative Evaluation Of Oraclome (Homemade Mouthwash) Versus New Formulated Mouthwash

Lucas Tagumpay Cantre Taguig Integrated School

This research investigates the effectiveness of a new homemade mouthwash formulation
consisting of baking soda, xylitol, water, and peppermint oil, compared to traditional
homemade and commercial mouthwashes. The study evaluates the mouthwashes based on
sensory properties (color, odor, and taste), effectiveness in freshening breath. The sensory
evaluation involves volunteer participants who compare the new mouthwash to
alternatives, while effectiveness testing measures how long the mouthwash keeps the
breath fresh. Results shows that the traditional mouthwash is by far more liked by the
participants in terms of sensory evaluation and effectiveness test.. Overall, the study
highlights the potential of natural mouthwashes in providing a safer, cost-effective, and
pleasant alternative for maintaining oral health.
