Individuals with special needs, particularly autistic students, often face challenges in emotional regulation and effective social interaction. These difficulties can affect their social development, communication, and daily learning. In response, an interactive media innovation has been developed to provide a user-friendly and responsive support medium tailored to the needs of autistic students. The innovation, known as “Know My Emotion: How I Feel Today” (KME:HIFeeT), is designed as a digital assistive tool aimed at enhancing emotional self-awareness, encouraging meaningful emotional expression, and supporting social communication within inclusive classroom settings. This innovation integrates visual elements such as icons, colours, and images to help autistic students identify and express their emotions more clearly and systematically. The implementation of KME:HIFeeT can be incorporated as a daily classroom routine, enabling autistic students to consistently share their emotional states, while teachers can utilise this information to plan more responsive, student-centred interventions and instructional strategies. Indirectly, the implementation of KME:HIFeeT supports the development of self-awareness, communication confidence, and the quality of social interaction between autistic students and their learning environment. Overall, this innovation not only supports the emotional and social development of autistic students but also serves as a supportive tool to strengthen inclusive and responsive educational practices in schools.

Know My Emotion: How I Feel Today (KME:HIFeeT): Inovasi Media Interaktif dalam Menyokong Perkembangan Emosi dan Sosial Murid Autisme

Individu berkeperluan khas, khususnya murid autisme, sering menghadapi cabaran dalam aspek pengurusan emosi dan interaksi sosial yang berkesan. Kesukaran ini boleh menjejaskan perkembangan sosial, komunikasi, dan pembelajaran harian mereka. Sehubungan itu, satu inovasi media interaktif telah dibangunkan bagi menyediakan medium sokongan yang mesra pengguna dan responsif terhadap keperluan murid autisme. Inovasi yang dinamakan “Know My Emotion: How I Feel Today” (KME:HIFeeT) direka sebagai alat bantu digital yang bertujuan meningkatkan kesedaran kendiri emosi, menggalakkan ekspresi emosi secara bermakna, serta menyokong komunikasi sosial dalam konteks bilik darjah inklusif. Inovasi ini mengintegrasikan elemen visual seperti ikon, warna, dan gambar bagi memudahkan murid autisme mengenal pasti dan mengekspresikan emosi mereka secara lebih jelas dan sistematik. Pelaksanaan inovasi KME:HIFeeT boleh digunakan sebagai rutin harian dalam bilik darjah bagi membolehkan murid autisme berkongsi keadaan emosi mereka secara konsisten, manakala, guru juga boleh menggunakan maklumat tersebut untuk merancang intervensi dan strategi pengajaran yang lebih responsif dan berpusatkan murid. Secara tidak langsung, strategi pelaksanaan inovasi KME:HIFeeT ini membantu meningkatkan kefahaman kendiri, keyakinan komunikasi serta kualiti interaksi sosial antara murid autisme dan persekitaran pembelajaran mereka. Keseluruhannya, inovasi ini bukan sahaja membantu perkembangan emosi dan sosial murid autisme, malah berfungsi sebagai alat sokongan yang memperkukuh amalan pendidikan inklusif dan responsif di sekolah.
