The Smart Sentence Builder Board is an interactive tool designed to help Year 2 pupils construct simple English sentences. Pupils select picture cards and match them with verbs and objects from pockets to form sentences such as “I play football”. A numbering system supports weaker pupils in choosing correct word combinations, while an audio feature helps with pronunciation and reading.

Additional phrase pockets allow pupils to expand sentences using phrases like “with my friends” and “on weekends”, as well as form negative sentences. This multisensory approach improves pupils’ writing, vocabulary, and confidence. The project is simple, engaging, and effective in supporting independent learning.
